English Mass in Assisi

Today we join together for Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent, a period of penitential renewal through fasting, prayer, and almsgiving. For centuries Catholic Christians have received the ancient mark of ashes, a tradition rooted in the Old Testament, to enter the season with humility before God.

During the winter, Mass is celebrated in Cappella Frate Leone, one of the chapels inside the Sacro Convento of the Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi.
